Cradle of Humankind, Gauteng
FARMHOUSE58 is the first of diverse developments planned for the Kromdraai Valley in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, 45000 hectares on the outskirts of Johannesburg and Pretoria. In this enchanting natural and cultural context, repurposed farm buildings provide simple luxury accommodation, dining, gathering and wellness facilities, enjoying the temperate highveld weather.
About
FARMHOUSE58 is the first of several diverse developments in the footsteps of the NIROX; true to the universal values of the Cradle, amongst ancient rolling kopjes, grasslands, rocky outcrops, wetlands and waterways formed over millennia by cosmic events that have shaped the earth. The majority of personnel at FARMHOUSE58 are from the local community, with whom we enjoy a commitment to heal past wounds and build a thriving society. The buildings at FARMHOUSE58 are part of its farming history, repurposed and refurbished for authentic luxury. The passage of time unfolds in nature’s presence like a warm stone in the hand.

Eat
With produce from our regenerative gardens and local artisanal suppliers we serve finely balanced meals in The Shed, The Lapa, Joe's Boma or by special arrangement under the trees or the stars.
The Shed was formerly the farm storeroom and workshop, transformed with rammed earth walls opening onto a gravel courtyard under established trees overlooking rolling lawns.
On the site of the old farm house, with sweeping sunset views across the Cradle, the Lapa is an open-sided lounge and bar overlooking the pool and gardens.
Dry-stacked local rock and rammed earth come together to create Joe’s Boma with a wood fired oven and assada serving grills, pizzas, roasts and freshly harvested vegetables from the adjoining gardens. Guest chefs take the Boma for special occasions.
